Schedule Definitions

  1. Adults Only: Mondays and Wednesdays all day are adult only (18+) days in the entire club.
  2. Lap: Adults and children age 17 for lap swimming (except 18+ on M/W).
  3. Combined Use: Adults and children age 17 only. Two far lanes for lap swim & lessons, 2 near lanes for independent exercise & lessons.
  4. Water Aerobics, Alive and Revive, or Hydro-Fit: The entire pool is reserved for class use.
  5. Family: All members may use the pool. Children under age 8 must be under direct parental supervision at all times. During family swim times (shaded light green on schedule), IAC pool attendant will provide supervision for children 8-16. Both the child and parent must sign a special form at the Member Service Desk to qualify for this program.
  6. Family/Lap: Two far lanes for lap and lessons. Two near lanes for Family Swim and lessons.
  7. Master's Swim: (extra fee) Structured lap swim team workouts use all 4 lanes. Contact Coach Kristi Eager 321-4469.
  8. Youth Swim Team: (extra fee) Entire pool is reserved for team workouts. Contact Coach Kristi Eager 321-4469.

Lap Swimming Rules

Please share the lanes. Communicate with other swimmers sharing your lane. If you are being passed, move to a slower lane. If you ar resting or chatting, move out of the lane. Swim in a counter-clockwise direction, keeping to the right. Lane 1 is closest to the locker rooms.

  • Lane 1: Slow swim or water walking
  • Lane 2: Slow to medium swim
  • Lane 3: Faster swim
  • Lane 4: Medium swim

Washington State Department of Health Regulations - updated Nov/2004:

  • All swimmers: Hot, soapy shower prior to putting on swimsuits
  • Children under age 17 may use pool during light green shaded times only.
  • Incontinence: Infants must wear snug swim diapers and adults with incontinence must comply with state requirement to wear suitable garment.

Island Athletic Club Policy - Updated Nov/2004

  • Age infant through 7 years: Parent must accompany child in the pool and provide continuous supervision for the child, even if an IAC staff person is present.
  • Age 8 through 16 years: During family swim times (shaded on the schedule), IAC pool attendant will provide supervision for children in this age group. Both the child and parent must sign a special form at the Member Service Desk to qualify for this program.
  • Age 17: May have full use of pool except on Mondays and Wednesdays.
  • Age 18+: Full use of pool.
  • If we must close and treat the pool or spa due to an "accident," you will be billed $200.00 for down-time, labor and chemicals.
  • No diving or flipping from pool edges or ladders.
  • Do not enter the pool closet or touch roof controls.
  • Do ot hang, sit or play on lane lines.
  • Failure to follow instructions of IAC staff will result in loss of pool privileges.
  • Emergency Phone on wall between locker room doorways. No personal calls!

Washington State Department of Health Regulations (Nov/2004): Unless they are in IAC swim lessons, children under age 17 may use the pool during light green shaded times only.

Family Changing Room: We have a room near the indoor spa which can be used for parents to help younger children of the opposite sex change & shower. Please no children over 2 in the opposite sex locker room. Disabled person with opposite sex attendant may use Family Changing Room.
