SWIM LESSONS and SOUTH WHIDBEY SWIM CLUB

Welcome to Island Athletic Club's aquatics program.  We have an outstanding program for your young child to learn to swim and enjoy the water.  We also offer adult swim lessons.  The goal of our program is to have each student find joy in swimming.  We want our students to find their experience supportive and fun.

Lisa Herzinger  brings with her a life-long love of swimming and years of experience as a swim instructor.  She believes in teaching basic survival skills as well as skill and technique, teaching all ages how to feel relaxed in the water and the skills to swim efficiently for a lifetime of health benefits.  Lisa teaches private and semi-private lessons, as well as small group lessons.  The small groups with a maximum of 4 students are a more economical way to continue swim lessons.

Beverly Woods has a BS in Physical Education and Health and a long career in teaching swimming.  Beverly believes that it's never too early or too late to learn to swim.  She has made it her life's work to teach people how to trust and love the water.  She specializes in beginners of every age.

Debi Karjalainen teaches the Parent-Child class for the infant to 3 year old group.  She has been trained by Beverly and children move easily from this first class onto the more advanced classes for children.

Carolyn Woods has 36 years of experience teaching all levels of swim skills.  She specializes in beginners and those with intense water phobias.  She provides a playful, loving and supportive environment in which her goal is for the swimmer to be one with the water and have fun.

New Salt Purification System!

SaltPure refers to the method used for sanitizing the pool. Instead of conventional chlorine methods, the new system uses ORDINARY SALT! As the salted water passes through the filtration system it also passes through a titanium cell that separates the salt into its chemical components, sodium and hypochlorite. Our pool is sparkling clean and gentler on the skin, eyes, hair and respiratory system.

Enjoy!

GOOD NEWS FOR FAMILIES!

Pool hours have been expanded for children age 8-16. Sign up at the Member Service Desk.

Children age 8-16 may use the pool during family swim times (shaded on the print schedule) without a parent being present. IAC pool attendant will provide supervision. Both the child and parent must sign a new Superkids form to qualify for the program. This increases the hours for this age group to use the pool, allowing the parents to work out too.

Age infant to 8: Parent must accompany child in the pool and provide continuous supervision for the child, even if an IAC staff person is present.

Please note: Failure to follow safety regulations may result in suspension or termination of child's pool privileges. Children who have not met our criteria must be supervised by a parent at all times.

A copy of our pool policies is available at the Member Service Desk.
