165 Warner engine
Assembly is complete, the cylinders have new valve guides and are installed, push rod tubes chromed, intake pipes powder coated, mags on, 60 amp alternator installed, carb installed.
A few pictures on how we got here:
engine mount ring, and mount
Engine cases with plenum and accessory case installed
A couple cylinders on
The pistons and cylinders are ready to install with a light brush one and new rings
This picture shows why you should not fly any radial engine after the engine
has hit a hydraulic lock. note the clearance between the piston skirt,
and the balance weights, that will be non existent when the rod is bent,
which shortens the effective length causing the balance weight to strike
 the piston skirt.

I just had to polish the front case :)
The Carb. airbox was a mess when I got the aircraft some one had altered
the casting to incorporate a square opening in the lower portion.
and welded a plug in the Air filter  opening (Nothing in the logs )
Knowing I would never find a new one I repaired the one I had by removing
the square duct and welding in the missing portion.

Then I find one on E-bay. which I have cleaned up and waiting If I ever need it.

The engine cowl was cracked almost all the way around the front
Finding a new one was impossible, So I weld the aluminum and carefully
reform the front edge.
The starter I had was a mess and worn out, After being despondent
for a couple weeks looking for a starter and finding out the Bendix E-80 starter
IF you could find one was $2500. used as is.
Then One popped on E-bay, it was advertised as "old" and condition unknown.
I called the guy and asked if he would sell it to me outright, he said no,( there was action on the auction) yeah me :)  So I placed a proxy bid and waited, No one else bid. and I got it for $51.50
When it arrived it was OLD and wrapped in burlap and cosmolene, After I washed it up disassembled it here is how it looked
Brand new gear train, and clutch assembly
Brand new brush block assembly, (With Brushes).
New cases
It was in fact a new starter. not showing any marks that it had ever been
 installed.
The engine is mounted and has run but not very well the mags are now in
Savage magneto for over haul.
