The new water catchment system at the park may run dry in the summer months, so if you notice the water barrel running empty, please consider bringing some fresh water from home in clean gallon jugs to help fill it up.
The Oak Harbor Dog Park on Technical Drive has been one of our least-used parks, mainly because of the rough condition of the park. Although FETCH and Island County supply the normal amenities (poop bags, Port-a-potty, trash pickup), the weeds and blackberries had taken over, and it was just too big a job for our volunteers to clean up the park.
All that changed on Sep 10, when Wiatt Charlesworth and his friends from Boy Scout Troop 4063 did an extreme makeover of the park. Wiatt undertook this effort as his Eagle Scout project, and organized and planned a huge effort. A large crew of Boy Scouts and helpers came to the park and ripped out blackberry brambles and weeds, trimmed trees, chipped brush into mulch, built and installed benches and a picnic table, planted trees for shade, installed a message board at the entrance, and set up a water catchment system to collect rainwater for the dogs to drink.

The results are spectacular! On behalf of the grateful and happy dogs of Whidbey Island (and their owners, of course!) we want to thank Wiatt and his crew for providing another awesome park on Whidbey Island!
This fenced park is just over an acre. It is a good place for dogs who are new to the off-leash experience, since it is less-crowded than Clover Valley Park.
How to get there: Oak Harbor Dog Park is north of the Oak Harbor city limits and about seven or eight miles south of Deception Pass. From SR 20, go west on Ault Road approximately 3/4 of a mile to Goldie Road. Turn left (south) and go approximately 1/2 mile to Technical Drive. Turn left and go all the way to the end of the lane. The park is just past Whidbey Welding and Machine.
