FOR BIRD WATCHERS AND ANIMAL LOVERS:

Shorebirds, songbirds, migrating birds -- from the magnificent Eagle soaring above to the little Hummingbird, you're sure to enjoy watching them. Sometimes Dunlin can be seen in flocks of a thousand swooping above the water in the Fall, and a dozen or so Goldfinch happily munching on cherries in the Spring. Sea Lions and Otters play in our water, Deer graze in our orchard, and shy Coyotes are more likely to be heard than seen.

POINTS OF INTEREST:

On clear days, the Inn at Barnum Point offers spectacular views of Mount Rainier and the Cascades. The Inn looks out over the water onto Port Susan Bay. This view always seems to melt worries away and help put life back into perspective. You can walk the beach to look for driftwood, or search for agates among the rocks. There are trails to investigate through the fields, then walk down Barnum Road. There is a free boat ramp nearby (check tides), and also a golf course about two miles away. Nearby Stanwood is a quaint old town. Many buildings are the same as they were in the early 1900's. You'll find several Scandinavian theme shops, reflecting the ethnic background of the early settlers. Nearby LaConner is the center for art and Mt. Vernon the home of the "soft petal" and the Tulip Festival in the spring. A Factory Outlet Center is in nearby Burlington.
