Mack moved to Oak Harbor in October 2006 from Ilwaco, where he served as port manager for 7 years. Ilwaco is a commercial and sport fishing port (salmon, crab, albacore tuna, sardines, whiting, and sturgeon) located at the mouth of the Columbia River. In Ilwaco, Mack directed dredging and rebuilding of docks and upland infrastructure. Prior to that, he worked upriver in eastern Washington at Pasco (12 years) and Clarkston (3 yeas) for ports with marinas that were leased to private operators. Mack also worked for the US Department of Agriculture for 8 years.

Assistant Harbormaster Phil WhitlockAssistant Harbormaster
Phil Whitlock

Phil joined the Marina team in November 2005, and has come aboard with energy and enthusiasm! He was born and raised in Holland, Michigan, where he lived until he was 13 years old, and still has many aunts, uncles and cousins there. His family transplanted to Oak Harbor for a business opportunity for his parents, and Phil has lived in Oak Harbor for the past 18 years, along with his mother and brother. He graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1993, and worked for his parents for a short time in their restaurant. More recently, Phil gained 8 years’ experience working on boats in the Oak Harbor Marina for a private company. He is a welcome addition to the Marina staff, and brings a wealth of knowledge of boats and familiarity with our marina. He and his wife, Shawn, have been married for 7 ½ years, and they have three children, Dresden 16, Zach 14, and Devin 6. Most of his spare time is spent with his family and doing home improvements. We’re most fortunate to have Phil on board!
