Harbormaster Mack Funk announces today the completion of the newly constructed work platform to make repairs at the marina boat hoist. Before the platform was used, it was checked by a state safety inspector, who suggested several improvements that were incorporated into the final design. So far, the platform has been used to replace light bulbs and it next will be used to replace the hoist bearings. The bearings have been sticking and have caused problems. Over the years the marina has spent an average of $500 per month on hoist repairs. Thus the platform can potentially save $6000 per year. “This is the type of improvement that we hope to make at the marina to increase efficiency,” stated Funk.

Notice to Boaters:  CAUTION -- Float Plane Operations in Oak Harbor Marina.  Kenmore Air provides occasional charter float plane service between Oak Harbor Marina and their base at South Lake Union. Flights arrive and depart from the Kenmore float located on the north side of the Marina on the main walkway immediately below the Harbormaster House.  Exercise caution when float planes are present.

On call bus service is now available from Oak Harbor Marina to downtown.  Island Transit provides this free service every day except Sunday with pick-ups at approximately 20 minutes prior to each hour when requested by phone.  Contact the marina office for the phone number.
