Someone
Who Cares
From: Steve Connella Fellow volunteer and programmer (The Acoustic Cafe)
at KKCR Dear
friend and fellow DJ , This song "Someone Who Cares'" was written
by my friend , singer/songwriter Derek Parrott inspired in the light of our current
world situation, the events of 9-11 and the death of George Harrison and in a
way is a tribute to George Harrison. It's a beautiful, exquisitely produced piece
of music in the spirit of the Beatles and Harrison and it's message is heart opening
and, what deep inside, we all want for ourselves and the world. It's God (and
maybe George sitting beside him) speaking to mankind. I wish this song could sing
out across all the radio air waves across the planet just as "All We Need
Is Love" and "My Sweet Lord" did at one time. If you like this
song and it fits your format at all, please play it a lot. It's a great one to
start the news off with. Derek
is a big hearted, great story-telling, and funny guy. Originally from England,
he has been writing songs for 30 years and is a friend and contempory of Donovan
and has great stories about hanging with Bob Dylan during his first tours
to England around 1960. He now lives in Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound off
Seattle. |
