The Magic Fan

Whidbey Children's Theater is proud to present the world premiere of The Magic Fan by Keith Baker. This original play by Mary Knight inspired by Keith Baker's award winning book will be on the Martha Murphy Mainstage in March 2008.

Set in a seaside village in Japan, The Magic Fan weaves a story about the give and take of life, as a young carpenter named Yoshi discovers where true magic resides. Audiences will delight in the play's colorful characters--from Yoshi's guardian grandfather, Papa-san, to Benzaiten, an eight-armed sea goddess, to Yoshi's playful companion, Sneezer, a Siamese cat with allergies. With an original music score by Elizabeth and John Falconer, the Magic Fan is not just an inspiring story, but is an aesthetic experience not to be missed.

For Teachers: In addition to our regularly scheduled performances, we are pleased to offer special performances for kindergarten through fifth grade classes on three Thursdays. Call our administrative line for more information on scheduling your class to attend The Magic Fan at 221-8707.
