Theater for Young Audiences

Whidbey Children's Theater is proud to announce our new program Theater for Young Audiences, T.Y.A. Theater for Young Audiences encourages regular attendance at the theater for children in grades K - 5. As an audience member, young people will develop an appreciation for storytelling, imagination and creativity. Come and enjoy the fun!

The Cow That Loses Its MOO
Family Show
A Magical quest for the lost moo that leads us all to our own Heart Song. An original musical play by Dawn Collins and Talia Toni Marcus, producers of the much loved musical Red Riding Hood. An audience participatory event for children of all ages. A Great family show!

The Multicultural Outreach Tour (MOTley Crew)
Grades K-5
MOTley Crew is a literature-based, assembly-style performance geared for K-5th grades. The goal of the Outreach Tour is to bring to life stories from all over the world revolving around a chosen theme for the year (example: Heroes, Wisdom, Friendship, etc.). The Tour serves many functions - as outreach to the community, peformance and practicum experience for Drama in Education students and as a celebration of the wonderful diversity in children's literature.

Stories to Play With!
Ages 3-5
Storyteller Jill Johnson has been a resident storyteller in a local pre-school for six years. Jill invites your pre-schooler to listen and participate in some storytelling designed just for them. These are stories to wiggle and jiggle with; stories with songs and singing; stories for FUN!

Stories from the Global Village
Ages 6-12
Storytelling is universal and so are its themes. There are always good guys and bad guys, friends and enemies, joys and disappointments. Local storyteller Jill Johnson has lived and worked in countries in Africa, Asia and Southeast Asia, and the Caribbean. She shares her own reallife story and a traditional tale from countries around the world. The program will end with a theatrically presented Haida story from our own Pacific Northwest.
